Exail
Exail was formed as ECA Group and iXblue joined forces in 2022. Exail is now a leading high-tech industrial champion specializing in cutting-edge robotics, maritime, navigation, aerospace and photonics technologies. Exail employs a workforce of 1500 people worldwide and achieve an annual turnover of €250 million. With their unique offer ranging from components to complex systems, we support our customers for their critical missions in severe environments.
Within AQuRA Exail will develop the 813nm magic wavelength laser which creates the lattice of the optical lattice clock (Tasks). |

Bruno Desruelle is currently managing director, quantum sensors division at Exail. He received his doctorate from University Paris XI for his work on Bose-Einstein Condensation in Alain Aspect’s group. He has acquired a solid industrial experience in the field of high-technology photonics business while working for Corning Incorporated in the field of DWDM optical communication systems, then for THALES Optronique where he managed the development of several complex optronics systems. He was appointed Head of the photonics domain at the office for advanced research and innovation of the French Ministry of Defence in 2005, as well as government representative for the two main competitiveness clusters in photonics. He left this position in 2010 to prepare the creation of Muquans and was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the company at its creation in 2011. Muquans was aquired in May 2021 by Exail.

With a multidisciplinary academic experience in optronics, management and business administration, Yves-Vincent BARDIN joined the optical and laser technology center ALPhANOV as an R&D engineer in 2015. He has worked on special optical fibers functionalization, power scaling of fiber laser architectures by developing KW-class fiber components, high power LMA fiber amplifiers and fiber pulsed laser sources for Supercontinuum generation applications. In 2018, he notably participated in the design and development of fiber based high power low noise single frequency lasers systems within the company AzurLight. Recently, he joined Exail Quantum Sensor Department where he will be in charge of R&D activities and new laser sources development for optical quantum application.
